2008 Wakarusa Music Festival
Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival is a music fesitval held in Ozark, Arkkansas. Wakarusa is a four day festival that has continued every year since 2004. Wakarusa 2004 to Wakarusa 2008 was located at Clinton State Park but Wakarusa 2009 is bringing about a new location at Mulberry Mountain. State agreements have kept Wakarusa a smaller festival with about 20,000 people visiting annually. Although Wakarusa is smaller than other festivals such as Rothbury or Bonnaroo there are many activites offered there along with music including golf, hiking, swimming, and yoga. Camping is allowed at Wakarusa but camping tickets are sold seperately from the event passes. Tickets for Wakarusa 2009 went on sale in December 2008 but camping tickets won’t be available until January 2009. Over 100 musicians perform at Wakarusa every year but the 2009 line up has not been yet announced. Past performers that have attended Wakarusa are Particle, Leftover Salmon, Spoon, Galactic, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, The Samples, Bob Schneider, Speakeasy, Forty Twenty, Bottlerockets, The Schwag, and the Greyhounds. There are many regulations for the camping grounds including no pets (unless it is a therapy dog) or open fires as well as restrictions on the types of chairs that can be brought. Children under 12 can be admitted to Wakarusa for free if the parent or guardian they are with has a 4-day pass.
