Rothbury Music Festival kicked off with a bang in 2008 in Rothbury Michigan attracting tens of thousands of people. The four day festival which was held over the 4th of July weekend promoted art, and music both. Many famous jam bands appeared in the 2008 lineup such as Umphreys, STS9, Snoop Dogg, and even members of the now reunited Phish. As much a success as the last event was, the status of Rothbury 2009 remains in question. The campsite that the event is held on Double JJ Ranch is undergoing ownership changes. If
Rothbury 2009 does succeed, then you can expect to know about the dates, schedules, and lineup before March, which was when news of the first festival broke. Currently their website has a way to update you on the status of the 2009 festival, but still no word on exact dates.
The atmosphere of the campsite was remarkable. It was a large camping area, with woods all around. The trees and woods were beautifully lit to make the best of your experience. Rothbury pictures do not even come close to capturing what it looked like at the festival. There are many Rothbury videos available for download on Youtube, but still nothing captures the full view.
